Navigating life’s stressors isn’t always easy. Everyone deserves to have a safe, open place to discuss the difficulties they face and learn skills to overcome the obstacles that may be in their path.
As a therapist Alexandra Peters, LPCC-S meets clients where they are, making sure the interventions used in therapy fit with the particular issues each individual is facing. Alexandra loves helping clients learn new skills, and seeing them succeed in their goals.
Alexandra specializes in treating Anxiety, Panic disorders, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or other trauma-related issues, and she is an EMDR-trained clinician. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy has been found through research to effectively help people recover from traumatic or otherwise distressing life experiences. Alexandra also has many years of experience working with clients with Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, and Obsessive-compulsive Disorder. Some other therapeutic approaches commonly used include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Alexandra grew up in southeastern Kentucky and in her spare time, enjoys reading, crafting, playing video and board games, listening to and playing music. Alexandra received a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Lindsay Wilson College. Prior to that, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology from Eastern Kentucky University. Alexandra has worked in the mental health field for over a decade and has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings with a variety of populations.
