My Name is Frances Poyntz. I am a Certified Social Worker and have held this certification since 2016. I have a background in working with youth in Therapeutic Foster Care for 3 years (2004-2007). I have a background working with teenage females in residential treatment (2004-2006). I have a background in working with children and parents with Child Protective Services for 9 years (2007-2016). Since 2016. have been working on the Medicaid side of Social Work Case Management. I have a background working in Case Management form entire time as a social worker. I am currently developing my skills as a counselor/therapist working to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I will be working as a therapist under the supervision of a current Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My dedication to learning, practicing, and developing my skills as a therapist is something that I am very passionate about.
My background in social work and case management with various populations of youth, therapist, treatment planning, and working with the families of youth, has given me the tools to work teenagers and children.
I am a very sincere person with active listening and motivational interviewing skills. A typical session with me will include starting off with a check-in to see how things have been going, reviewing any homework or assignments from our previous sessions, and then letting the client/patient set the pace for the current session. My goal is to collaborate with my clients/patient, not dictatorship. An initial intake appointment and the 1st few sessions will focus on general assessments, and developing a healthy counselor/therapist professional relationship and developing trust. My sessions and therapy modality will be goal driven with treatment and case plans. These plans will have specific goals my clients want to work on achieve with measurable steps so clients can see their progression towards those goals.
I am very open and honest. I am a good listener. I like to motivate clients. I will prove to be trustworthy and kind, but honest and direct. Although I am the counselor, I am client driven and believe that working at the client’s pace and focal points, while using my skills and tools to add suggestions, are the best way to have successful results in therapy. I am an active listener and not a dictator.
