I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, providing compassionate evidence-based treatment to Kentuckians. I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and a person-centered approach with clients. CBT helps clients gain more understanding of their thoughts and behaviors, as well as change unhelpful thinking patterns that contribute to increased depression, anxiety, and other presenting concerns. DBT is based on CBT, but also helps clients acquire an increased toolbox of skills, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. DBT is very effective in decreasing distressing emotions that are often present for individuals struggling with Borderline Personality Disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Substance Use Disorders, Anxiety, and Depression.
When clients meet with me, they can expect to be welcomed into a safe space. I know it takes courage to reach out for help and support. I find joy in meeting with my clients and I’m passionate about creating a safe space for clients to be themselves, speak freely, and meet their goals. As we get to know each other, clients can expect to be accepted for their authentic selves, supported during difficult times, challenged as new ways of thinking and skills are being developed, and cheered on as goals are met and great things are happening in their lives.
I practice trauma-informed and LGBTQIA+ affirming care, embracing diversity. Clients come back to see me because of my warm, caring, and empathetic nature. I believe they also return because they feel welcome to speak freely, feel like we work as a team, receive evidence-based treatment, and see the fulfillment of building a life worth living. Previous to working for Kentucky Counseling Center, I worked in community mental health, an outpatient hospital, and school. I have experience in individual therapy, running DBT groups, running SUD groups, teaching parenting classes, and running partial hospitalization program groups. I refer clients, as needed, to medication management and case management, working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team and other professionals.
