Working with children has been one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever chosen. Working as a trauma therapist can be hard, but is surprising rewarding also. Hearing trauma stories never gets any easier, but seeing the end result of therapy for each kiddo is so amazing.
I feel like it’s a different experience for each of my clients. I try to match the energy the client needs. Some of my kids I work with now love a silly therapist, some love a soft spoken therapist who will sit beside them, and some of my kids enjoy a nature walk for therapy because sitting in an office to talk seems impossible in the beginning stages of therapy.
Building rapport. Letting my clients get to know me, letting them ask questions, and letting them be in charge of their therapy sessions (with a little guidance of course).
