I am a licensed mental health counselor and I have worked with addictions, domestic violence, trauma, and mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety. It is important to me to establish a partnership with the client, working with the struggles that impact their functioning which includes quality of life. Substance abuse, trauma, mental illness are all situations that compromise us, and keep us from creating a life of meaning and purpose. My joy comes from watching clients’ transformation as they heal or overcome the barriers that keep them from flourishing. I am trained to use a combination of therapeutic interventions, and match those to what would best work with the client. These interventions include cognitive behavior therapy, trauma-informed therapy, meditation, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing.
I have a nurturing, laid-back style with clients, meeting them where they are. I often use humor and stories in my sessions. I encourage clients to express themselves however they feel most comfortable. I am at- ease with silence and feel that compassionate listening is one of the gifts therapist can offer. I have a warm, down-to-earth personality.
Clients are comfortable with my style, and feel they can share anything without judgment. They have commented that they feel safe with me, and feel heard. Clients feel better after seeing me, and they find the sessions helpful. Their symptoms tend to improve, and their distress decreases. Clients appreciate the positive regard I show them, and the ways I advocate for them.
